The Bloomfield Rosewell Cemetery has embarked on an ambitious beautification project to honour the memory of loved ones and to create a respectful, serene and attractive place to visit.
Thanks to generous support, two handsome pillars have been placed at the entrance of the Cemetery. The pillars were fashioned by artist, sculptor and stonemason, Jake Goertzen. Website: www.jakethesculptor.com
Unexpected expense has been incurred to straighten gravestones, level the terrain, and seed grass. We hope to be able to plant trees and shrubbery before winter, if funds will allow.
This will complete Phase 1.
Phase 2 involves work on a small chapel to be placed on the adjacent half acre to the north, which will require landscaping as well.
Projects such as these are somewhat difficult to accomplish when families who respect and honour the lives of their forbears have left the immediate community.
Still, there is a core group of volunteers and supporters that has rallied around this beautification effort. We hope to expand the number of friends of the Bloomfield Rosewell Cemetery and include the underwriting support of area businesses.
To complete this vital work, we are also asking existing supporters to consider making additional gifts to allow us to take advantage of the fall planting season.
